History & Artisans
This basket is woven by artisan families from Michoacán, Mexico, who work with fibers such as bulrush (tule) and chuspata, aquatic plants obtained from the region's lakes. The bulrush is sun-dried and moistened before weaving to regain flexibility. Each piece is carefully handcrafted, preserving traditional techniques such as petate weaving.
